Student Spotlight: Rebecca Hoopman

Rebecca Hoopman is the queen of time management. Not only did she complete her complicated draped dress two weeks before it was due, she did it flawlessly. Rebecca is kind and patient and spends much of her free time helping classmates. She will also serve as the liaison between our Fashion Design students and Jane Wagner, the coordinator for the Virginia Marti College Foundation Fashion Show Fundraiser coming up November 13th. It is a well-deserved honor and Rebecca will do a fine job.

Summer Recap:
The Collection Students

Jennie Doran’s resort wear collection was done in a poppy red and crème palette with gold accents.

She featured sportswear that transitioned into formal attire, pieces you might want to splurge on if you were indulging yourself while on vacation.

Jennie saved the highlight of the collection, a soft chiffon dress with vertical, spiraling ruffles, for herself to showcase.

Jessica Landies delivered an adorable children’s wear collection, consisting of 13 pieces. Her color scheme consisted of purples and greens, in solids, plaids, and dots.

Anyone who knows Jessica (pictured below), knows that her favorite color is purple, as she has shown us by dyeing her mini mannequin that color.

“This was the first time that I have ever seen all the garments receive a grade of 100% in the sewing category” said Fashion Design Dept. Head Judy Boryczka.

The designs and workmanship were both impeccable! They were modeled by five well-behaved, darling little girls, aged three to seven.

Jessica was awarded the Critic’s Choice Award for this outstanding collection.

Congratulations to both of our graduates and continued success!
