CAN-Do Creativity for the Food Bank
ID team wins “Best Use of Labels” for sculpture
Congratulations to the VMCAD Student Chapter of ASID who once again built a sculpture to benefit the Food Bank of Cleveland for CANSTRUCTION, on March 26th at Beachwood Mall. The 6 ft. high x 6 ft. wide sculpture was built entirely of cans of food, which were donated to the Food Bank. Last year, the VMCAD team won the award for Most Structural Integrity and this year the team won for Best Use of Labels! Using a “Feed the World” theme, ID students, Christopher Randall Keever and co-captain Kinsley Funari, designed a model of the Earth surrounded by people holding hands.
Blue Progresso Soup labels provided the oceans, green vegetable labels created lush continents and multicultural people were made from other colorful canned vegetables. The design team included Cassie Rice, Laura Amiralian, Romanca Mohan, Christine Murray and Natalie Spearry. "With our structure, we wanted to show the other participants, and the Cleveland Food Bank, what you can do with a lot of heart and a CAN do attitude…" said Christopher.
