Cristina McCarthy

Interior Design Department Chair

Ms. McCarthy holds a Master degree in Urban Planning and Design as well as a Bachelors of Architecture. While pursuing her studies, Ms. McCarthy focused on many interior details and design. She has worked for architecture firms in the USA and in Brazil. She is the present Interior Design Department Chair at VMCAD where she has been teaching since 1990. She also works as an independent designer and space planner. Mrs. McCarthy has been actively involved on the board of directors for ASID OH North Chapter and was the President from 2012 to 2013.

Patrick Melnick

General Education Department Chair

Mr. Melnick is the Chair of VMCAD’s General Education Department. Any student will tell you that Mr. Melnick is one of the best! An art studies instructor, he teaches Anatomy and Figure Drawing, History of Art and Fashion Illustration. An instructor for more than 26 years, Mr. Melnick earned his Master of Fine Arts Doctoral in Studio Arts from the University of Notre Dame. He’s worked throughout Ohio and in Chicago teaching and working in art galleries.

Jasmine Rocco

Online Learning Consultant

Mrs. Rocco holds a Master of Education in Instructional Technology from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Iowa State University. She also has a certificate of Online Teaching and has more than 15 years of academic technology experiences. She joined VMCAD College at 2015 as an Instructional Designer and was promoted to be the Director of Online Learning at 2016. Currently she serves as an online learning consultant for VMCAD.

Todd Saperstein

Graphic Design Department Chair

Mr. Saperstein is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Illustration. He recently completed his Master of Arts Degree at Full Sail University in the Education Media Design and Technology program, which focused on new media and technology for use in education and business communication. He specialized in virtual learning environments and social networks, both personal and professional.

Mr. Saperstein accepted the Graphic Design Department Head position at VMCAD in October of 2002. His mission was to provide every student with the faculty, environment, and opportunity to build all of the vital skills necessary to succeed as a professional graphic designer. Saperstein confidently states, “Over the next two years, we will test every ounce of your creative skill, work ethics, and character, in order to prepare you for entry into the industry.”

Prior to his position here at the College, Mr. Saperstein worked as the Senior Designer for Ernst & Young LLP in Cleveland, responsible for creating custom proposals, marketing collateral, and brand designs both internal and external for a global client base. He has also illustrated for American Greetings, designing a line of humorous greeting cards for their European Division. Mr. Saperstein is a proud and active member of the American Advertising Federation and the American Institute of Graphic Art.
